Vietnamese businesses have won bids<\/a><\/strong> for 3 lots totaling 85,000 tons, accounting for 17% of Indonesia’s massive 500,000-ton rice tender.<\/p>\n

According to the rice market website SSRicenews, in the results of Indonesia’s massive rice tender in October, Vietnamese businesses won 3 lots with a quantity of 85,000 tons, accounting for 17%.<\/p>\n

India, having recently re-entered the rice export market, also won bids for 3 lots totaling 80,500 tons, accounting for 16%. Businesses using rice sourced from Thailand and Cambodia won bids for 200,500 tons, representing 40%. <\/p>\n

Details regarding the winning bid prices and company names have not been fully disclosed. It is known that in this bidding round, Indonesia was able to purchase rice at a significantly better price than in previous rounds thanks to the participation of India. However, due to the lower quality of Indian rice compared to other suppliers such as Vietnam or Thailand, the amount of rice won in the bidding was not high. As for Vietnam, due to limited supply, not many companies participated in the bidding. <\/p>\n

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), prior to the results of the Indonesian rice tender, the price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam was $534\/ton, Thailand $506\/ton, Pakistan $474\/ton, and India $453\/ton.<\/p>\n
