Viet Nga Agri Wins Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Award in the TRVC Project – Winter–Spring Crop 2024–2025
In the Transforming Rice Value Chain (TRVC) project during the Winter–Spring Crop 2024–2025, Viet Nga Group Joint Stock Company (Viet Nga Agri) was among the most active participating enterprises, achieving outstanding results and making a practical contribution to the goal of advancing green and sustainable agriculture.
The TRVC Project, implemented by the SNV Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), aims to promote sustainable rice cultivation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance… the livelihoods of farming households in the Mekong Delta region. In the second crop season, Viet Nga Agri participated in the project with a scale of 243 farming households across 346 rice plots, covering a total area of 298.08 hectares of sustainable rice cultivation. As a result, Viet Nga Agri achieved a reduction of more than 877.70 tons of CO₂e — an impressive figure that highlights the effectiveness of the sustainable farming model.

This achievement was made possible through the integrated application of multiple scientific solutions, including AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) water management, reducing nitrogen fertilizer use, collecting rice straw after harvest, and dry direct seeding techniques.. These practices not only help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also improve productivity and profitability for farming households — laying the foundation for a greener, climate-resilient agricultural sector.
Evaluation System and Adjustment Results
In the TRVC Project in Dong Thap Province, the organizing committee applied an evaluation system based on three key factors:
- Total reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Data Reliability (Confidence Score)
- Socio-economic threshold (including profitability and social inclusion)
Notably, all rice fields under Viet Nga Agri’s cultivation system achieved a profit margin of over 30% and fully met the GEDSI criteria. (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) This demonstrates the effectiveness not only in terms of greenhouse gas emission reduction, but also in ensuring economic and social sustainability for participating farming households.
Thanks to its outstanding performance in the Winter–Spring Crop 2024–2025, Viet Nga Group Joint Stock Company (Viet Nga Agri) was honored by the TRVC Project Committee with an award of AUD 1,877 (equivalent to approximately VND 32 million).. After receiving the award from the Project Committee, Viet Nga Agri will forward the prize to our valued partner — Agricultural Cooperative No. 2 — and the participating farmers, in accordance with the initial agreement.

This award amount was calculated based on Viet Nga Group Joint Stock Company (Viet Nga Agri)’s contribution to the total greenhouse gas reduction achieved throughout the entire program. The detailed calculation is as follows:
- 877.70 tons of CO₂e: the total actual greenhouse gas reduction achieved by Viet Nga Agri and participating farmers.
- 693.03 tons of CO₂e: the officially recognized reduction result after applying evaluation criteria on data reliability and socio-economic thresholds.
- AUD 1,877: the award amount, calculated in proportion to the 693.03 tons of CO₂e that met all qualification requirements.

The achievements in the TRVC Project not only brought an international award but also reaffirmed Viet Nga Agri’s pioneering role in promoting sustainable agriculture and climate change adaptation.. We are committed to continuing to accompany farmers in the upcoming crop seasons, with the goal of enhancing productivity and optimizing costs while ensuring greenhouse gas emission reduction and environmental protection.
In the journey ahead, Viet Nga Agri will continue to expand sustainable farming models and improve production methods to further enhance emission reduction efficiency and increase value for farming households. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with farmers, related service partners (such as agricultural drone operators, crop purchasing units, distributors, and cooperatives), as well as local authorities — together with the TRVC Project — to build a greener, more sustainable, and climate-resilient agricultural future. Join Viet Nga Agri in the journey toward a green, sustainable, and climate-smart agriculture.
