The Effectiveness of Viet Nga Specialized Fertilizers in Adverse Rain and Storm Conditions
In late July, thousands of hectares of summer-autumn rice in the Mekong Delta were flattened and flooded, making harvesting difficult due to the heavy rains caused by Typhoon Talim. According to Tuoi Tre newspaper, in Hau Giang province alone, 2,616 hectares suffered 10-20% damage, 250 hectares suffered 40-60% damage, and 92 hectares suffered 80-90% damage. For the autumn-winter rice crop already sown, 728 hectares were flooded from 15-90%.
The flattened rice crop caused by storms not only makes harvesting difficult but also reduces farmers’ yields. Besides harsh weather and soil conditions, the plants also flattened due to weak stems, poorly developed roots, and the failure to completely remove the lower leaves.
The technical team of Viet Nga Fertilizer has conducted on-site observations in Hong Ngu City, Dong Thap province, regarding the lodging of rice crops. Farmer Tran Van Ho, who participated in Viet Nga Fertilizer’s demonstration model, shared his experience comparing the effectiveness of using Viet Nga’s specialized fertilizers with traditionally mixed single-nutrient fertilizers.
