After a bumper harvest, fruit trees, especially orange trees, need to be nourished. This is a stage when trees are weak and vulnerable to pests and diseases. Restoring orange trees not only strengthens the trees' health but also helps the roots and branches develop steadily.
Besides techniques such as pruning and weeding, fertilizer also plays an important role in restoring orange orchards. Below are two notes on fertilizing orange trees after harvest that farmers can refer to.
1. Increase nitrogen and phosphorus
Apply fertilizers rich in nitrogen and phosphorus so the trees can concentrate nutrients, restore their root systems, absorb nutrients to feed branches and leaves for the next crop, and increase resistance to pests and diseases. Viet Nga Fertilizer currently offers products such as Viet Nga NPK 17-17-17, Viet Nga NPK 20-20-15+TE and Viet Nga NPK 20-10-10 to meet the trees' recovery needs.
– Rate: 0.5-1 kg/tree. Apply about 7-10 days after harvest.
2. Add organic fertilizer
In addition, using organic fertilizer will make the soil loose and fertile, help roots develop and absorb nutrients, create a balanced habitat for beneficial microorganisms, and increase yield and fruit quality in the next season. Viet Nga Fertilizer currently offers products such as Goneco 06 organic fertilizer, VNG Organic Green 666, or you may consider Gronn 75% OM organic fertilizer (made in Norway).
Rate: 0.5-1 kg/tree. Apply at the same time as the nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers.
3. Other points farmers should note when fertilizing to restore orange orchards
– Adjust the fertilizer rate according to the age of the trees and the soil type.
– Dig a trench 10-15 cm deep and 10-20 cm wide around the tree along the drip line of the canopy for the most effective fertilization.
