Accordingly, in discussions with US Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Hafemeister, the two sides agreed on the technical requirements for passion fruit, moving on to legal procedures to allow the import of passion fruit from Vietnam.

After reaching a technical agreement, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will conduct a consultation process with relevant agencies within 60 days, after which it will officially announce that Vietnamese passion fruit is permitted for export to the United States.

In addition, both sides initiated the review process for new Vietnamese products, including seedless lemons, guavas, and jackfruit.

In the first six months of this year, fruit and vegetable exports to the US reached nearly $150 million, a 32.4% increase compared to the same period last year. The US is currently Vietnam’s largest importer of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products.
