In 11 months, cassava exports brought in over $1 billion.

Currently, China is Vietnam’s largest consumer market, purchasing over 91% of Vietnam’s exported cassava and cassava products.

According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, as of the end of November 2024, Vietnam had exported more than 2.3 million tons of cassava and cassava products, earning over 1 billion USD. The average export price of cassava and cassava products in the first 11 months of 2024 was estimated at nearly 450 USD/ton, an increase of 3.1% compared to the same period in 2023.

Currently, China is Vietnam’s largest consumer market, purchasing over 91% of Vietnam’s exported cassava and cassava products.

According to the Vietnam Cassava Association, the current harvest season has resulted in a higher volume of cassava being delivered to factories. Some factories in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands have lowered the purchase price of this raw material.

Since the beginning of November, the purchase price of raw cassava tubers in some provinces in the Central and Central Highlands regions has fluctuated between 1,900 and 2,300 VND/kg, a decrease of 100-300 VND/kg compared to the end of October. The purchase price of fresh cassava in the Northern region has fluctuated around 2,000-2,050 VND/kg.

The Vietnam Cassava Association also stated that although cassava starch inventories at Chinese ports have decreased (estimated total inventory of about 170,000 tons), Chinese buyers are still cautious. This is partly because they want to wait for the new crop supply from Southeast Asian countries.
