1. Warning about shipments that do not meet phytosanitary requirements.

In late July 2023, shipments of dried chili peppers from Hai Duong were returned due to tricyclazole residue levels exceeding South Korea’s permitted limit by two to four times. Prior to this, similar incidents of chili peppers being found to contain pesticide residue had occurred in the Chinese and Malaysian markets.

In addition, a representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shared with Tien Phong Newspaper that the unit had received several notifications from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) regarding shipments of agricultural products such as bananas, jackfruit, mangoes, longan, dragon fruit, and durian that violated plant quarantine requirements when exported to the Chinese market.

Currently, consumer demand for clean or organic products is increasing, leading major markets to raise import standards. For the European market, fruit products must meet phytosanitary and pest control requirements, including pesticide residue control. Meanwhile, the US market, in addition to these factors, requires comprehensive supply chain management, from raw materials, processing, packaging, labeling, and transportation to delivery to the consumer.
