Agricultural Products in July 2023: Rice Prices Improve, Many Fruits Enter Season

Date 31/07/2023

We invite all farmers to join Viet Nga Fertilizer in reviewing the agricultural product prices in June and exploring some useful information for choosing agricultural products to purchase this July!

1. Rice prices

Along with rising global rice prices, Vietnam’s domestic and international rice markets have become more active after months of relative calm. Currently, Vietnamese rice prices are high compared to other exporting countries.

Domestically, the projected demand for consumption, processing, and livestock farming activities is expected to be around 5,000 tons (Q3/2023) and over 10,000 tons (Q4/2024), contributing to stabilizing rice prices.

In the Mekong Delta region, rice purchase prices in An Giang increased slightly in the last days of June, while prices in other localities remained stable.

Specifically, traders are buying IR50404 rice at 6,300 VND/kg (an increase of 100 VND), and OM 5451 rice at 6,300 VND/kg. In Kien Giang, Dai Thom 8 rice remains stable at 6,800 VND/kg; IR50404 rice is still at 6,250 VND/kg; and OM 5451 rice is at 6,450 VND/kg.

2. Prices of seasonal agricultural products

The fruit market in some southern provinces is experiencing price increases for fruits like mangoes and pomelos due to being at the beginning or end of the season, resulting in reduced production and thus higher prices. Conversely, fruits such as durian, watermelon, dragon fruit, rambutan, lemon, mangosteen, jackfruit, etc., are trending downwards in price due to being in peak season with abundant production.

Specifically, in June in Tien Giang province, the price of Hoa Loc mangoes reached 48,900 VND/kg, an increase of 8,800 VND/kg compared to the previous month; Chu mangoes also increased by 6,400 VND/kg and were purchased at 26,000 VND/kg.

In Tien Giang, pomelo prices have increased slightly. Specifically, Nam Roi pomelos are being purchased at 19,800 VND/kg, an increase of 1,800 VND/kg; and green-skinned pomelos are being purchased at 30,300 VND/kg, an increase of 6,100 VND/kg.

Thai jackfruit is entering its peak season, leading to a sharp drop in prices. Specifically, in Tien Giang province, the average price of grade 1 Thai jackfruit in June 2023 was 15,800 VND/kg, a decrease of 8,400 VND/kg compared to May 2023.
