agricultural product price list for June

1. Rice prices

Last month, the rice market in various localities experienced mixed fluctuations, with OM5451 variety slightly decreasing and Dai Thom 8 slightly increasing.

However, compared to the same period last year, summer-autumn rice prices remain relatively high. During the month, in An Giang, IR50404 rice remained stable at 6,200 VND/kg, while OM 5451 rice decreased by 100 VND/kg to 6,300 VND/kg.

In Kien Giang, the price of Dai Thom 8 rice remained stable at 6,700 VND/kg; IR50404 rice at 6,250 VND/kg; and OM 5451 rice at 6,450 VND/kg. In Bac Lieu, the price of Dai Thom 8 rice increased by 100 VND/kg to 6,850 VND/kg, while OM 5451 rice remained at 6,250 VND/kg.

2. Prices of seasonal fruits

June is the peak season for many fruits such as lychees, dragon fruit, durian, jackfruit, etc. Specifically, the projected harvest volume for these agricultural products this month is very large: Dragon fruit – 163.2 thousand tons, longan – 53.2 thousand tons, oranges – 62.1 thousand tons, mangoes – 149.8 thousand tons, lychees – 117.4 thousand tons.

This is why the prices of some fruits in the southern provinces are currently trending downwards due to large production volumes. specifically

– Mango prices continued to fall sharply due to high harvest volumes in the early days of the month, and tended to rise again towards the end of the month as the harvest season drew to a close and production gradually decreased. Specifically, in Tien Giang province, the average price of Hoa Loc mangoes in May 2023 was 39,500 VND/kg, a decrease of 10,200 VND/kg compared to the previous month; Chu mangoes were 19,125 VND/kg, a decrease of 5,120 VND/kg.

– Rambutan prices have decreased due to the peak ripening season of many other fruits such as mangoes, mangosteens, and mandarins. Rambutan is grown in many provinces such as Ben Tre, Dong Nai, and Binh Phuoc, and this year’s favorable weather has led to higher yields and an oversupply. In Tien Giang, the average price of Java rambutan in May 2023 was 19,265 VND/kg, a decrease of 1,125 VND/kg compared to the previous month; rambutan with a “nhãn” variety was 27,400 VND/kg, a decrease of 560 VND/kg.

– In early May 2023, the mangosteen harvest, coupled with the demand for mangosteen chicken salad, drove prices high at 60,000-90,000 VND/kg. However, towards the end of the month, mangosteen prices in the Mekong Delta provinces began to fall daily. According to traders, although mangosteen is currently in season, the decline in demand has driven prices down to only 30,000-50,000 VND/kg. A survey in Tien Giang province in May 2023 showed that the average price of grade 1 mangosteen was 63,400 VND/kg, a decrease of 6,900 VND/kg compared to the previous month.
