Rice Farmers Earn Over 30 Million VND per Hectare in Profit When Partnering with Viet Nga Agri under the TRVC Project

During the Winter–Spring harvest of the project “Transforming Rice Value Chain for Climate Resilient and Sustainable Development in the Mekong Delta (TRVC)” for the 2024–2027 phase, Viet Nga Agri achieved remarkable results beyond expectations.

The TRVC project focuses on sustainable rice cultivation, helping to increase productivity, reduce costs, and cut greenhouse gas emissions. By applying sustainable rice farming technologies such as the “1 Must – 5 Reductions” approach, Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) irrigation, and post-harvest straw management, the project has brought practical, measurable benefits to local farmers.

Visible Results from Using the Right Fertilizer Solutions

Recently, the technical team from Viet Nga Agri visited the rice fields of farmers participating in the TRVC project during the harvest period. Through on-site observation, farmers reported remarkable results from using the comprehensive nutritional solutions NPK Ca Mau Gold 20-15-8 and NPK Ca Mau Gold 15-6-20, specialized fertilizer formulas for rice crops. These products, distributed by Viet Nga Agri, have been applied consistently throughout the season, delivering outstanding efficiency and yield performance.

At Cooperative No. 2 in Thuong Lac Commune, Hong Ngu District, farmer Le Van Chon is among the pioneering participants in the TRVC model. In the recent crop season, thanks to the application of scientific fertilization practices and improved cultivation techniques, his rice field achieved an impressive yield of 8.36 tons per hectare.. In terms of economic efficiency, farmers participating in the TRVC project earned an average profit of over 30 million VND per hectare. During cultivation, the rice plants grew strongly and healthily, with well-developed root systems, sturdy stems, lasting green leaves, and minimal pest damage. The rice grains were full and firm, contributing to higher yields.

According to Mr. Le Van Chon, investment costs per hectare used to be quite high, especially for fertilizers and pesticides. However, by using NPK Ca Mau Gold 20-15-8 and NPK Ca Mau Gold 15-6-20, specialized fertilizers for rice produced by Ca Mau Fertilizer and distributed by Viet Nga Agri, combined with the sustainable cultivation practices introduced by the TRVC project, the amount of fertilizer used was optimized, significantly reducing input costs while still ensuring strong and healthy plant growth.

Mr. Chơn said:“I find farming under the TRVC project much better than the old ways. Before, farmers used fertilizers and pesticides freely — everyone just bought and used whatever they thought worked, with no proper guidance. Now, with the engineers coming directly to the field and instructing us at each stage, we’ve learned how to use fertilizers and pesticides more efficiently — saving money but getting better results. For nearly 40 days now, I haven’t had to spray any insecticide at all. Before, I didn’t know any better; I would just go to the store, pick whatever was cheap or what others were using — it cost a lot without real effectiveness. ”.

Under the guidance of agricultural engineers from Viet Nga Agri, Mr. Chon applied fertilizers to his 1-hectare rice field following the schedule and formula below:

After applying the cultivation practices from the TRVC project, Mr. Le Van Chon’s rice field achieved remarkable results. The rice plants grew strong and healthy; the flag leaves remained green and vibrant until the end of the crop, without signs of wilting or burning. As a result, the straw base and leaves became sturdier, helping the plants stand upright and resist lodging.
Most notably, the rice grains were full, firm, and well-developed, significantly improving both yield and grain quality. This outcome not only brought tangible economic benefits but also affirmed the practical value of sustainable farming practices promoted through the TRVC project.

Through a comprehensive solution package — including reducing seeding rates, optimizing fertilizer use, limiting pesticide application, and implementing Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) irrigation — the model not only helps optimize production costs but also saves water, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and moves toward a greener, more sustainable agricultural system.

Expanding the TRVC Model to Enhance Rice Value

Mr. Duong Hong Dan, Director of Agricultural Cooperative No. 2 (Thuong Lac Commune, Hong Ngu District, Dong Thap Province), shared:“The TRVC project has helped farmers significantly reduce production costs by applying scientific cultivation techniques. Farmers are guided to reduce seeding density, apply fertilizers and pesticides at the right time and dosage, avoiding waste and inefficiency. Particularly, the support from Viet Nga Agri, with its high-quality fertilizer products and practical usage guidance, has enabled farmers to cultivate more sustainably. As a result, rice yields remain high—averaging around 7.5 tons per hectare—while production costs are lower than those outside the project area. Seeing such clear benefits, many farmers are enthusiastic and eager to expand this model further ”.

He highly appreciated the effectiveness of the TRVC model, believing it could be replicated on a larger scale. Mr. Dan shared that thanks to thorough training on the “Three Reductions – Three Gains” and “One Must – Five Reductions” practices, cooperative members were able to quickly adopt the model and achieve notable results. Following a successful crop season, the cooperative plans to encourage more farmers to join, helping to increase yields and reduce production costs. Many farmers outside the project area have also shown great interest after witnessing the improved growth of TRVC rice fields — a promising sign for expanding the model to nearby fields in the future.

Mr. Duong Hong Thai, a farmer participating in the TRVC project at Cooperative No. 2, Thuong Lac Commune, Hong Ngu District, shared:“At first, many farmers around me were hesitant and unsure, since we had never practiced the cultivation methods introduced in the project before. But after seeing the actual results and improved yield from my own rice field, many neighboring farmers praised the outcome and expressed their interest in joining the project in the upcoming season ”.
